| Updated: October 9, 2024 22:32

Adani Group on Wednesday announced that Mundra Port, India’s largest commercial port, has received a special postal stamp to mark its silver jubilee year.

The commemorative stamp, issued on World Post Day, celebrates Mundra Port’s significant socio-economic contributions and its evolution into a global maritime powerhouse over the past 25 years.

On the special occasion, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) Managing Director Karan Adani said, “This commemorative stamp represents not just the legacy of Mundra Port but also our partnership of trust with the people of Gujarat and the supportive policies of the state government.

The stamp was unveiled by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) Managing Director Rajesh Adani and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) Managing Director Karan Adani.

“Together, we have turned a vast wasteland into India’s largest port, reaffirming our humble commitment to driving economic development and creating opportunities for our people, while supporting India’s ambition to be a leader in global trade,” Karan Adani added.

The commemorative stamp, titled “25 Years of Progress – Mundra Port”, features a visual narrative of the port’s transformation. India Post, in collaboration with APSEZ, designed the stamp sheet containing 12 stamps. A limited run of 5,000 sheets, totalling 60,000 stamps, has been printed at the Security Printing Press in Hyderabad. The stamps will be available for purchase through India Post’s ePortal.

Additionally, India Post has introduced a special cover and stamp cancellation process. A copy of the stamp sheet will be permanently exhibited at the National Philatelic Museum in New Delhi, cementing Mundra Port’s place in India’s maritime and postal history.

Mundra Port, developed by infrastructure visionary Gautam Adani, has transformed from a barren marsh into a vital commercial centre and a crucial gateway for India. Since its establishment in 1998, the port has significantly contributed to the state and national exchequer, generating over Rs 2.25 lakh crore in revenue, creating more than 7.5 crore man-days of employment and attracting investments exceeding Rs 70,000 crore.

Mundra Port currently handles nearly 11 per cent of India’s maritime cargo and 33 per cent of the nation’s container traffic. The Adani Foundation, through its community support initiatives, has impacted 61 villages, benefiting over 3.5 lakh people.
