Adani Group yesterday announced that it is participating in 5G spectrum auction, which will commence on July 26. However, the company refuted media reports and said that it was not interested to foray into telecom services. The company said that it had taken the decision to be a player in the 5G space in order to provide private network solutions along with enhanced cyber security in the airport, ports & logistics, power generation, transmission, distribution, and various manufacturing operations.
In the statement, the company said, “If we are awarded 5G spectrum in the open bidding, it will also align with our recent announcement of significantly increasing the Adani Foundation’s investments in Education, Healthcare, and Skill Development in rural areas, each of which stands to benefit from 5G technology.”
The company is also looking to build its digital platform encompassing super apps, edge data centres, and industry command and control centres. The 5G network will award the company the needed ultra high-quality data streaming capabilities. “All of this is aligned with our nation-building philosophy and supporting an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the statement said.
