The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat held a clerk of a school in the Naroda area of Ahmedabad city along with his accomplice while accepting bribe of Rs.12000.
The clerk, Niket Dinesh Bhai Patel was trapped by the ACB upon complaint by the father of a girl student belonging to the Schedule Tribe community. Shivaji Maghaji Thakor, a peon, demanded and accepted Rs.12000 out of the government scholarship of Rs.32300 credited in her account, at the behest of Nilesh Patel.
The incident happened at Uma Shikshan Teerth, a school in Naroda area of Ahmedabad functioning under the aegis of Umiya Shikshan Trust. The complainant informed the Anti-Corruption Bureau when the bribe was demanded by the duo. It is possible that similar bribe accepted from other students might have gone unnoticed so far. Both the culprits were caught red handed and detained.
