Poll hotbed Gujarat has seen much rhetoric and drama in the run-up to the elections. With derogatory jibes to personal comments, this ballot will be remembered more for the anecdotal swipes, less for the usual pre-poll promises.
However, just as the first phase ended and the state is poised to cast its mandate in the second phase on Dec 5, AAP Vatva convenor Hardik Patel was intercepted by the police, late Friday evening. Acting on a tip off, the police caught the Ramol-bound Patel with six bottles of liquor in “dry” Gujarat.
The Ramol police have registered a case against him. The catch totals Rs 3,000 but the damage done to AAP’s repute might just be many times more.
Crime Branch sources shared how Patel’s consignment had been detailed. “It might have to do with political rivalry but we acted on the tip off and arrested Patel,” shared ACP Bharat Patel, adding that the offender is currently lodged at the Ramol PS and law will take its course.
