Ahmedabad continues facing the wrath of stray dogs.
In the past year, there have been 46,322 cases of stray dogs biting people. The AMC had given free injections to the people who were bitten by the dogs, whereas in private hospitals and clinics, a full injection course would cost Rs 5000. Many agencies have been appointed and given a big sum of money by the AMC to castrate these dogs, and yet the problem continues.
To put a stop to the stray animals on the road, the municipality has been registering cases as well but the problem just seems to keep increasing. Complaints of stray dogs biting citizens have increased in seven zones of the city which is why these agencies have been appointed to castrate the dogs.
In January 2021, 5898 people were bitten by stray dogs and 46,322 people were bitten in the whole year.
