It is a sad season for paddy farmers this year, with a decrease of 50.4 per cent in the procurement of paddy. In Gujarat, a decrease of 37.86 per cent was reported in the paddy procured for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2021-22.
443.49 LMT has been procured in KMS till December 26, 2021, in the procuring States/UTs of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
In Gujarat, 14,809 farmers have benefitted with an MSP value of Rs 134.26 crore according to the official data from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Highest procurement reported from Punjab with 18685532 MT paddy procured which decreased from 20282432.98 MT in 2020-21. It decreased by 7 per cent. Over 9 lakh farmers were benefitted with an MSP value of Rs 36623.64.
In total, about 47.03 Lakh farmers have been benefitted with an MSP value of Rs 86,924.46 crore.
