A scuffle between members of the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at the BJP office in Kamalam, Gandhinagar, over the recent paper leak scandal, resulted in a police complaint against AAP workers, who were eventually arrested.
In the scuffle, women workers of the BJP were allegedly beaten up and molested by AAP workers and leaders. The police have arrested a total of 93 accused, including 65 men and 28 women, in the case. The accused women were produced in court, denied bail and sent to judicial custody. The 65 male accused were produced in court today.
AAP youth in-charge Gulab Singh Yadav and Maheshbhai Savani were detained at the Collectorate before they could picket the office and begin the fast in protest of the paper leak scandal of the head clarks’ examination, demanding the resignation of the officials in charge of the Secondary Service Selection Board, specifically chairman Asit Vora.
“Instead of a government press, recruitment examination papers were printed in a private press. Papers have been leaked in the state since 2016. The government has taken fees for every examination, for which 81 lakh students have paid fees in five years,” said Singh.
A tight police cordon has been set up outside the AAP state office following the announcement of a fast.
AAP members have demanded legal action against all the accused involved in the paper leak scam, the appointment of an IAS officer as the chairman of the SSSB, and an inquiry into the scam, headed by a retired judge.
They have also demanded that stalled recruitments be completed as a priority.
