A Covid-19 patient being treated in Ahmedabad Civil Medicity is suspected to be infected by the Omicron variant. The patient, 48 is an Anand resident. The sample has been sent for genome sequencing. The patient is already being treated in one of the separate wards of Omicron that is set up in 1200 different hospitals.
Gujarat recorded 53 new cases of Covid-19 while the new variant, Omicron is marking its presence in the state. The total death toll in the state due to Covid-19 is 10100. There were no deaths recorded in the last 24 hours due to Covid-19. The recovery rate in the state is 98.71 per cent.
Amid the fear of the new variant in the state and the increasing tally of the cases, Vadodara recorded the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours at 13 cases. It was followed by Ahmedabad by 8 cases.
There are 555 active cases in the state and five patients are on ventilators.
As many as 3,31,226 people have been vaccinated in the state till now. Out of which, 15422 persons have been vaccinated in Ahmedabad.
