Police Probe Alleged Paper Leak Claim By AAP Youth Leader

| Updated: December 15, 2021 20:41

Asit Vora, chairman of Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) told the media on Wednesday that an inquiry has been launched by the police into the alleged leak of question papers in the December 12 examination for the recruitment of head clerks for the government.

The board will lodge an FIR if “proof” is found on the paper leak, Vora said following a meeting with Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of State for Home, and top police officials.

Sanghavi has assured of strict action, Vora added, in case of any irregularity.

The recruitment examination for 186 vacancies was conducted by GSSSB on December 12. The next day, Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, vice-president, Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) youth wing alleged that the question paper was leaked and sold at Rs 6-12 lakh in various parts of the state. Jadeja also claimed that he had evidence of the paper leak.

Following the allegation, the Gujarat government and GSSSB faced severe criticism from different quarters.

Over 88,000 candidates appeared for the test. “So far, there has been no complaint submitted to the board in this connection. Despite that, owing to reports in the media, the police have been involved,” said Vora.

The Sabarkantha district police got in touch with the board. “We have shared details like the districts where the examination was conducted, the number of candidates and the location of the strong rooms. Based on these details, the police have deployed 15-16 teams at various places to carry out an inquiry,” Vora added.

AAP’s youth wing submitted a representation at Vora’s office seeking action in the alleged leak episode. They also demanded the candidates involved in the incident be blacklisted.
