Ladakh Advisor Umang Narula launched Ladakh’s first-ever FM radio station which will cover 50 kilometres of radius in the difficult terrain.FM broadcasting in India started in 1977 but it took 44 years for Ladakh to have one radio station that will focus on local taste, trends, culture and lifestyle. that talks to its local people and addresses regional issues.
According to Umang Narula, this will be a wonderful addition to Leh and Ladakh.The frequency for Leh & Kargil will be 91.1 FM and it will cover 50 kilometres of aerial distance in radius. Top FM has eight markets in Gujarat, three in J&K, two in Ladakh, one in Kargil and now, the 13th radio station was launched in Leh-Ladakh on Dec 14. Top FM is the radio vertical of Ahmedabad-based Sambhaav Media Limited. “Congratulating the team of Sambhav Media Group,” Advisor Narula said this is a wonderful step and a new source of entertainment and information.
The frequency will be 91.1 and it will be an 18-hours Live Station from morning 6 am to midnight. IT will have local content and their focus will be to highlight local issues. It will cater for a wide range of audiences.
The FM coverage will be 50km aerial distance in radius. Security is an utmost issue that will be kept in mind besides the fact that it is hilly terrain.
