With a confirmed case of Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Gujarat, Ahmedabad airport will today receive around 2,000 people coming from abroad. 14 flights coming from abroad will be monitored and all the passengers will have to mandatorily undergo the Covid-19 test.
Earlier on December 4, the health department of Gujarat had confirmed the first case of Omicron in the state. The testing samples of the 72-year-old man coming back home to Morkanda in Jamnagar from Zimbabwe were sent to the laboratory for genome sequence which was found to be positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
Also, a Vadodara couple, who arrived from the UK, was tested positive for Covid-19 on December 4 at Ahmedabad airport. The elderly couple is under treatment at a private hospital since then and they are being monitored through a CCTV camera.
This week – the first week of December saw around 246 people arriving at Ahmedabad airport from abroad.
