Gujarat: BSF Commemorates 57th Raising Day With Tug Of War

Border Security Force, Gujarat Frontier commemorated the 57th Raising Day today at the Gandhinagar headquarters. An event of Tug of War was organised with the BSF Jawans which was attended by the G.S Malik, Inspector General of BSF Gujarat Frontier and M L Garg, Deputy Inspector General of BSF, Gujarat Frontier.

I.G Malik addressed the people present at the event and said, “BSF is the largest security force in the world. Acting as the primary security force of India, it protects the Indian borders against Pakistan and Bangladesh along with other hostile geopolitical situations. The border area covered by BSF ranges to at least 6500 km against the neighbouring countries.”

BSF Gujarat covers an area of around 826 km against the neighbouring countries. It stretches from the Rann of Kutch to Jakhau coastal area. It also includes the Barmer area of Rajasthan.

He further added that “the BSF also fought in the 1971 war between India-Pakistan, Bangladesh Liberation War and the Kargil war of 1999. BSF played a significant role during the insurgency period and assisted in ending the terrorism in Kashmir and conducting elections.”


Since the inception of BSF, 1900 jawans had sacrificed their lives for the protection of the borders. And more than 5000 jawans had been injured.

IG Malik further talked about the Border Tourism project in which the government has invested over 100 crores so far. He said, “Gujarat government in collaboration with the BSF is launching the “Border Tourism Project”. The aim of the project is to familiarize the people with the border security forces, their contribution to the country and the martyrs. This will not only generate revenue for the government but will also create employment opportunities.”

BSF is also contributing towards implementing other projects launched by the Indian government namely Fit India movement, Skill India Mission and many others.
