“Vibrant Unemployed Gujarat”: Congress Takes Dig At BJP After Video Of GRD Recruitment At Banaskantha Goes Viral

| Updated: November 29, 2021 15:03

A viral video of a swarming crowd of young boys at the Police Headquarters ground at Palanpur in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district has made holes in the Government’s claims of prosperity in the state of Gujarat.

6700 job aspirants from the district had gathered at the same time to apply for 600 vacant posts of Gram Rakshak Dal jawan in 22 police stations in the district. In the video, one can see the job seekers falling over each other for a job which will ensure a salary of Rs.230 for every day worked.

The commotion in the viral video showcases the desperation of unemployed youth. Worried about losing the place, the aspirants jostled with each other so much that the Police had to use mild force for controlling them.

The ruling party however prefers to remain in denial. A BJP leader said ” It is an honorary service. Rs 230 a day honorarium. They are not scrambling for employment but are very eager to serve BharatMaata. They also get a chance to wear a khakhi uniform”

Congress was quick to harp on the issue which shows the ruling party continuously in power for two decades, in poor light. Paresh Dhanai, interim leader of opposition in Gujarat assembly and Manish Doshi, GPCC Spokesperson were quick to point out that “Vikas” rhetoric was hollow.

Congress’ Spokesperson Manish Doshi said it was ‘Vibrant Unemployed Gujarat’ in the context of BJP’s pet peeve annual ” Vibrant Gujarat” Summit, at end of it every year, claims of creation of lacs of jobs are announced. Adding that it is ” utter failure” of BJP, he said “ Several graduates and post-graduates were among the applicants, showing an acute dearth of jobs in Gujarat. The state government has not only made higher education expensive and inaccessible but has also ensured that the youth don’t get jobs even after getting degrees”
