The Gujarat Forest Department has booked 12 people after a viral video in which a lion is seen killing and feasting on a cow tied to a pole was used as bait in Junagadh’s village.

As per a forest department official, the illegal show was organised at a village in Devaliya range of Gir forest on November 8.

The deputy conservator of forest, SK Berwal said that an FIR has already been filed against 12 unidentified people on the basis of a video that shows a group of people gathered to watch an Asiatic lion kill a cow.

He further said that investigation has showed that the show was organised on November 8, however, they are still trying to determine if the participants were from outside.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Wildlife Act, the official said.
