PATRELEKHAA PAUL & RAJKUMMAR RAO: For Raj, the minute he saw the lovely Patra, he knew this was the girl he wanted to marry. And he did marry her, after 11 years of friendship, on November 15, at the Oberoi Sukhvilas resort in Chandigarh.
Only family and a few close friends like Farah Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Huma Queshi, Saqib Saleem, Amar Kaushik were present at the engagement ceremony during which the couple twinning in white, offered each other rings and asked, “Will you marry me?” The wedding was an intimate, traditional affair with both promising to remain each other’s best friends.
And with that, the marry-go-round has started as several other couples lineg up to take the pheras, and some are still keeping everyone guessing about when they will get hitched.
KATRINA KAIF & VICKY KAUSHAL: They chose to have a hush hush roka on Diwali day at director Kabir Khan and Mini’s Mathur’s residence, but the wedding is expected to be almost a week-long affair, from December 7-12, with band, baaja, haldi, mehendi, baraat, Sabyasachi outfits andthe bride reported to be arriving in a palki. There’s even talk of a Catholic ceremony.
The venue is supposedly the 14th century Six Senses Fort Barwara in Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, 30-minutes from Ranthambore National Park, but could change at the last minute. Her Khans heroes—Aamir, Shah Rukh and even Salman—are not expected to attend because of work commitments, but her Sooryavanshi director Rohit Shetty, good friend Karan Johar, his ‘students’, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Mahotra and Kaira Advani, along with Salman’s Khan parivar should be among the guests.
With Tiger 3 calling Kat and Vicky to begin work on Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Maneckshaw biopic soon, the honeymoon could be short, but then they have a lifetime of ‘we’ time to look forward to.
ANKITA LOKHANDE & VICKY JAIN: This pavitra rishta is for real. After three years, the actress and the businessman are slated to tie the knot on December 12, with celebrations spread over three days.
Her bachelorette party last Tuesday was a blast with her girl gang of Rashami Desai, Mahhi Vij, Mrunal Thakur, Amruta Khanvilkar among the guests. The wedding promises to be as much fun. As the bride puts it through an Instagram post, “Don’t underestimate the beauty of God’s love story for you. He can do more than you ask or imagine.”
ANUSHKA RANJAN & ADITYA SEAL: Her bachelorette party was on Sunday, with Sussanne Khan and her rumoured boyfriend Arslan Goni, Aly Goni, Vaani Kapoor and Krystle D’Souza making up “team bride”. The following day, Vaani and Krystle were again spotted at the sangeet, along with Alia Bhatt.
They have been dating for four years with Aditya proposing to Anushka in Paris in October 2019. But they waited for pandemic restrictions to ease, to say “I do.” Meanwhile, the actor has already moved into her building and can’t wait to live under the same roof with his best friend.
THEY WILL TOO, BUT WHEN?
ALIA BHATT & RANBIR KAPOOR: They have been dating for three years now and again, had it not been for the pandemic and the demise of his dad, Rishi Kapoor, they might have been married by now. It’s just a formality now with both Alia and Ranbir going off on holidays, together and with their families, for birthdays and to bring in a New Year. They show up together at parties, weddings and even pujas, and have been overseeing their dream house with his mother Neetu Kapoor. Occasionally, they also wear their hearts on their Instagram handles.
When they do make the relationship official, it will be the wedding of the year. And going by reports, the year could be 2022, summer of 2022.
TARA SUTARIA & ADAAR JAIN: Before Ranbir, his cousin Aadar Jain is expected to take the pheras with steady date Tara Sutaria, early next year. The decision was reportedly taken during a recent Goa vacation.
The Student of the Year 2 actress has danced at Aadar’s brother’s wedding, has turned up at almost every Kapoor family gathering and gone public about private vacations. He’s reciprocated by breathing fire and posting black hearts. She’s big on hearts too, black, white and red. This one is a dil ka rishta.
MALAIKA ARORA & ARJUN KAPOOR: This Kapoor hasalso been using Insta to tell the world how much Madam M means to him. She’s single now and he’s an eligible bachelor, but on the ‘M ‘word they are both mum. However, from stolen vacations abroad to a joint appearance at Anil Kapoor’s Diwali bash this year, at which Arjun’s dad Boneywas also present, the love birds have come a long way. Now, we are just waiting to see them share a nest.
ATHAIYA SHETTY & KL RAHUL: After Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, we may soon have another big fat Bollywood meets cricket wedding as Suniel Shetty’s daughter and theone of India’s best batsmen reveal their game plan. On Athiya’s 29th birthday, the soft-spoken KL opened his heart with an emoji. She thanked him for his wishes with three emojis—a cake, heart and folded hands—while heer papa gave the couple his blessings with seven hearts. Is there a shaadiwala date hidden in the seven?
RAKUL PREET & JACKY BHGWANI: The actor-producer’s gift on her 31st birthday was to share a picture of both of them and a confession, “Without you, days don’t seem like days, without you, eating the most delicious food is no fun.” Calling the actress the “most beautiful soul who means the world to me”, Jackky told the world that he had found his Ms Right.
Rakul compounded the surprise by sharing the exact same picture and calling Jackky her “biggest gift” this year. He finds her smile sunny, she credits him for making her laugh. Together, they want to make more memories than movies. So, can you blame us for speculating about the big day.
PULKIT SAMRAT & KRITI KHARBANDA: They have been very open about their relationship with Pulkit’s Veerey Ki Wedding and Pagalpanti co-star moving into his building to be closer to her beau.
During the pandemic and the months of lockdown, they spent a lot of time cooking and eating together, then going off on romantic trips. But marriage is something the winsome twosome refuse to discuss. But given that she admits to being spontaneous nad living in the moment, one fine day, they may just decide to take that one step up to forever.
MOUNI ROY & SURAJ NAMBIAR: Theactress spent the early lockdown months in Dubai with her sister, brother-in-law and nephews and documented their happy times on instagram. There was also a special someone who more recently, found his way into one of her insta stories in which, using a big panda and a tiny dragon, she told that what is more important than journey or destination, is the company.
