There is a rise of 70.46% in the domestic air passengers in the month of October as compared to the same month last year as per the information received from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Total number of passengers travelling by air has reached 89.85 lacs.
In October 2020, the total number of passengers travelling by air was 52.71 lacs. Thanks to the decreasing cases of Covid-19 and increasing speed of vaccination, the air traffic has picked up. Aviation sector was one of the worst affected sectors of economy during Covid-19 epidemic. Various lockdowns and travel bans had increased the difficulties of aviation sector manifold.
Thankfully, the situation is appearing to be improving in fast mode. As per DGCA data, private airlines Indigo carried most number of passengers. With 48.07 passengers Indigo came first whereas Air India catered to 10.61 lacs passengers. The aviation sector is returning to it’s pre-covid status slowly but steadily.
