Gujarat, cited as one of the safest states for women to reside and roam around freely has recorded 3095 rape cases in the last two years.
As per the National Crime Records Bureau(NCRB) crime report 2020, Kolkata has made it to the top being the safest city in India by scoring 129.5 that measures cognizable offences recorded per lakh people. While Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, is the third-worst hit city with a crime rate of 1300.5.
Ahmedabad has reported 620 rape cases which is highest number cases registered in the state while Dang has reported only six cases being the lowest.
According to the data, Gujarat witnesses four rapes on a daily basis.
