Neeraj Chopra, who earned the historic gold medal in the javelin throw with a stunning mark of 87.58m for India at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this year, seems to be enjoying the height of success. The 23-year-old athlete was gifted a personalised XUV700 by Anand Mahindra, the Mahindra Group chairman, as a token of appreciation on Saturday, October 30. After receiving the SUV, Neeraj Chopra took to micro-blogging social media site Twitter and thanked the automobile group saying, “Thank you, @anandmahindra Ji, for the new set of wheels with some very special customisation! I’m looking forward to taking the car out for a spin very soon.”
Neeraj Chopra also posted a picture of his brand new car in his tweet, showing off a sticker of javelin throw along with the numbers “87.58”.
Replying to Neeraj’s tweet, Anand Mahindra tweeted, “You made the country proud @Neeraj-chopra1 We hope the XUV, our chariot of Champions, will make you proud”
Earlier this year, Anand Mahindra announced that he would gift the new Mahindra XUV700 to the javelin players as a gesture of goodwill for their remarkable performances in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Sumit Antil, the winner of a gold medal at Tokyo Paralympics in the F16 men’s javelin throw, also received the same model of XUV700 car.
Mahindra has put two series of the XUV700 — MX and AdrenoX (AX). The XUV700 price starts at Rs 11.99 lakh. While the AX7 Luxury MT and AX7 Luxury AT AWD (All-Wheel Drive), are priced at Rs 19.99 lakh and Rs 22.89 lakh, respectively.
