India’s longest-running film, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge which is still being shown in Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir finds its way to get premiered at Broadway.
The Chairman and Managing Director of Yash Raj Films, Aditya Chopra has brought one of the country’s favorite classics to Broadway under a new title: Come Fall In Love — The DDLJ Musical.
The movie was directed 26 years back which now marks Chopra’s directorial debut at Broadway. It is all set to release in Autumn 2022.
The cast of the movie is yet to be announced and the music will be produced by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravijiani.
Chopra, as an ardent cinephile has always been fascinated by Cinema since he first went to a show in London in 1985 when he was just 14 years old. He was fascinated by the smallest of things that happened at the set and noticed many similarities between Indian Cinema and Western musical theatre. ” I realised then, that worlds apart, languages apart, western musical theatre and Indian films are two long lost lovers separated in time”, read Chopra’s statement.
Chopra has been on this project for over three years and has roped in talent from various corners of the world to realise his dream.
