After several WhatsApp chats with regard to procurement and consumption of drugs came up during the investigations, many were questioned by the NCB, including actresses Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, and Rakul Preet Singh. Actor Arjun Rampal’s partner Gabriella Demetriades was also summoned.
In September this year, Gabriella’s brother Agisilaos Demetriades was arrested by NCB in connection with a drugs case in which it is said they seized charas from his possession. Fardeen Khan: On May 5, 2001, the actor was arrested by NCB in Juhu, Mumbai, for allegedly trying to buy cocaine. A special court granted him immunity from prosecution in the case in 2011, saying the charge against him was for an attempt to buy one gram of cocaine and not nine grams as sought by the NCB. The lesser charge paved the way for the actor to seek relief under the Narcotics Act that permits him to go in for rehab in lieu of punishment. He has since announced that he is readying to make a comeback as an actor.
