The Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay on Monday announced that all police units in the state have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules, particularly the mandatory helmet requirement, starting February 11.
In a tweet posted on the X (formerly Twitter), DGP Gujarat emphasised the importance of government servants setting an example as responsible citizens.
He stated, “All government servants of Gujarat, as responsible citizens of the state, are expected to be role models for others…. Take a pledge today to follow traffic rules, especially wearing helmets.”
This move is part of a broader initiative to ensure safety on the roads and reduce traffic-related injuries. Helmets are a crucial safety measure for two-wheeler riders.
The DGP further urged government employees to cooperate fully with the new directive, adding that the police units would begin monitoring compliance from tomorrow.
