The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) crime wing of the Gujarat Police has arrested a couple for allegedly defrauding numerous individuals by promising them visas. According to officials, the suspects, Rushikesh Vinayak Purohit and wife Sujata Wandhwa, residents of Bhayali in Vadodara, are natives of Ludhiana in Punjab. They have been implicated in multiple complaints of duplicitous dealings in Gujarat.

Preliminary investigations reported by the media, reveal that Rushikesh and Sujata orchestrated their nefarious activities with the intention of using the ill-gotten gains to help them move overseas, leaving a trail of victims in their wake.

The couple allegedly ran a company New Path Career Solutions Pvt Ltd to execute their plans. One such victim Hardik Patel claimed that he was swindled out of a staggering Rs 1.60 crore with the promise of permanent residency (PR) status in Canada, a media house reported.

Patel filed a formal complaint at the Ahmedabad Zone Police Station, detailing the deceptive practices that led him into the couple’s trap. Following this complaint, police inspector DV Tadvi tracked down the couple through multiple states, including Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. Ultimately, they were arrested in Kasol village in the picturesque Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.

The police have confirmed that cases have been lodged against them at various police stations, including Bodakdev in Ahmedabad, Bapod and DCB in Vadodara, as well as Rajpipla in Narmada.
