Airfare Prices From Ahmedabad Surge Ahead of Christmas Holidays

| Updated: December 23, 2024 15:49

As the Christmas holidays approach, flight prices from Ahmedabad are expected to rise, but this year, there’s an unexpected trend: airfare from Mumbai to Ahmedabad has also increased significantly.

According to experts, the spike in prices is due to the influx of non-resident Gujaratis (NRGs) returning home for the festive season in December and January. This surge in demand has led to a sharp increase in flight prices, with fares from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, typically around Rs 3,500, now soaring to Rs 14,000 – a fourfold increase.

Adding to the demand for flights from Ahmedabad is the Rann Utsav 2024 in Kutch, which is likely to attract a large number of tourists. Additionally, Ahmedabad and Jaipur serve as key gateways for those travelling to Dubai, further contributing to the increased demand for flights. As a result, one-way fares from Ahmedabad to Dubai have reached Rs 24,000 on December 25.

It’s not just Mumbai flights that are seeing price hikes. One-way fares from Delhi to Ahmedabad have already climbed to Rs 18,000.

The airfare from Ahmedabad to Goa, typically expected to rise as Christmas nears, has actually decreased. While fares were previously around Rs 15,000, they have now dropped to Rs 9,000 for flights on December 25.

On the other hand, fares for flights from Ahmedabad to Dehradun have doubled compared to usual prices, while flights to Srinagar are also running at inflated prices of Rs 14,000.
