Gujarat Woman Ends Life, Leaves Behind Phone Call Recordings

| Updated: December 18, 2024 14:14

A 27-year-old woman has died by suicide in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district, leaving behind recorded messages in which she apologised to her partner and expressed being weary of domestic conflicts.

Radha Thakor, who owned a beauty parlour, had separated from her husband a few years ago and had been residing with her sister in Palanpur.

Radha’s sister Alka said, “My sister ran a beauty parlour. On Sunday night, she returned home, had dinner and then we went to sleep. We found her dead the next morning. When we checked her phone, we found the videos she recorded. We have handed everything over to the police and we suspect the man she was talking to.”

The family has filed a complaint against an unidentified man, indicating that they are unaware of his identity.

Officials are attempting to determine why the woman apologised in her recordings and why she committed suicide. Radha is heard demanding a photograph from the man during their recent talk, which was recorded

According to her family members, she had been demanding a picture from the man, but he was not providing it. She can be heard saying, “See what happens if I don’t get the photo by 7 o’clock,” in the call that was recorded.

She apologised to her partner in one of the recordings she made before her death.

“Forgive me, I am taking a wrong step without asking you. Don’t be sad, stay happy, enjoy life and get married. Don’t think that I have died by suicide. I apologise with folded hands. If you are happy, my soul will find peace. I am upset over work and life so I am taking this step,” she said.

Following the death of 34-year-old techie Atul Subhash earlier this month, the woman’s suicide came amid a national discussion on mental health concerns and suicide.

In a 24-page statement and an 80-minute video, Subhash accused his separated wife Nikita and her family of harassing him and his family by making false accusations.
