Actor Vikrant Massey has announced a temporary retirement from films, stunning his fans and the film industry alike. On December 1, the acclaimed actor shared an emotional Instagram post revealing his decision to step away after completing his last two film projects, expressing gratitude for the memories he has created over the years. This announcement follows the release of his latest project, The Sabarmati Report, and his recent recognition as the Indian Film Personality of the Year at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
In his heartfelt post, Massey wrote:
“Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted (sic).”
Vikrant Massey has had a remarkable career trajectory, earning critical acclaim and commercial success in equal measure. In 2023, he delivered a massive hit with director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail, where he portrayed IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, garnering widespread praise. This was followed by the releases of Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba and The Sabarmati Report.
Massey’s latest release, The Sabarmati Report, has been widely lauded for its gripping narrative, based on real-life events surrounding the Godhra train incident. The film received accolades from prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and was declared tax-free in several states.
While Massey prepares for his temporary break, he still has two films in the pipeline: Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyaan. These projects are anticipated to mark the culmination of his current phase in cinema before he takes time off to “recalibrate” and focus on personal priorities.
Although his Instagram post hinted at a temporary departure from acting, the timeline for his comeback remains uncertain. The announcement has left fans both emotional and hopeful, eagerly awaiting his eventual return to the screen.
