Ahmedabad Crime Branch Arrests Five Individuals in Khyati Hospital Case

| Updated: November 26, 2024 17:28

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested five individuals who had been absconding in connection with the Khyati Hospital case.

Among those apprehended are Chirag Rajput, identified on the hospital’s website as a Director, and Rahul Jain, both of whom also served as the hospital’s Chief Executive Officers (CEOs). The others arrested include Milind Patel, Pratik Bhatt and Pankil Patel.

The Crime Branch raided a farmhouse in Kheda, where Chirag Rajput was found hiding. Rahul Jain and Milind Patel were tracked to Udaipur and arrested there.

An official from the Ahmedabad Crime Branch confirmed that the three were brought back to Ahmedabad for questioning. Authorities are interrogating them about their escape and seeking to identify those who may have helped them evade capture. Meanwhile, Pratik Bhatt and Pankil Patel were also detained on suspicion of their involvement in the case.

The operation was closely monitored by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghvi, who maintained constant communication with the Crime Branch. Acting on his directive, the authorities ensured prompt action, with the minister reaffirming his dedication to justice for the victims.

The accused face charges related to alleged unnecessary angioplasty procedures performed on seven patients at Khyati Hospital. Two of the patients, Mahesh Girdhar Barot (52) and Nagar Moti Senma (75), later died, reportedly due to negligence in their post-operative care.
