LOC Issued Against Four Absconding Accused After Khyati Deaths

| Updated: November 19, 2024 23:41

Following the deaths of two patients under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital in Ahmedabad, the state police have now issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) for the four absconding accused in the case.

On Tuesday, the officials initiated the LOC process against the absconding accused linked to the incident: Kartik Patel, the hospital’s director; Chirag Rajput, the CEO; and two promoters, Dr Sanjay Patolia and Rajshree Kothari.

Six city crime branch teams conducted searches at Khyati Hospital, as well as Patel’s residence in Bopal, Patolia’s house on Sindhu Bhavan Road, Rajput’s house in Makarba, Kothari’s residence on Drive-In Road, Thaltej, and Dr Prashant Vazirani’s residence in Navrangpura.

DCP (Crime) Ajit Rajian confirmed to Vibes of India about the LOC.

According to officials, incriminating materials such as documents, pen drives, laptops and computers were seized during the searches.

The police are reportedly consulting two cardiologists to better understand the medical aspects of the case.

The deceased, Nagar Senma (75) and Mahesh Barot (52), both from Borisana village in Kadi taluka, North Gujarat, underwent angioplasty at Khyati Hospital on November 11. They later died on the same day.

Following the deaths, three First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered on November 13 by Vastrapur police against Patel, Rajput, Vazirani, Patolia, and Kothari.

After briefly appearing before the media post-tragedy, Rajput went into hiding as complaints mounted.

To date, Dr Vazirani remains the sole accused in custody.

As per media reports, not only the accused but many Khyati Hospital staff members and close relatives of the accused have fled their residences.

Constable Suspended

As Dr Vazirani is under seven-day police remand, he was reportedly receiving “VIP” treatment in jail. Given this, Lalsang Sagradan Gadhavi, head constable of Vastrapur Police Station, was suspended for showing negligence in duty.

Disciplinary action has been taken against the head constable by the DCP Zone-1.
