Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that a false narrative can only last for a short time before the facts are revealed, in response to the release of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ film on Friday.
In a post on X (formally Twitter), the Prime Minister responded to a remark that suggested that people should watch The Sabarmati Report, saying, “Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!”
Starring Vikrant Massey from Mirzapur and 12th Fail, the film depicts the events leading up to the 2002 train burning incident near Gujarat’s Godhra station. The train fire, which was subsequently determined to be an act of arson, claimed the lives of 59 people, many of whom were Hindu pilgrims heading to Ayodhya to attend a religious ceremony.
More than 1,000 people were killed in riots that erupted in Godhra shortly after the train burning tragedy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was Gujarat’s chief minister at the time.
On the first day of release, The Sabarmati Report earned Rs 1.69 crore at the box office. It was directed by Dheeraj Sarna and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, which is led by Ektaa R Kapoor. In addition to Massey, Raashii Khanna and Riddhi Dogra play significant roles.
