Jake Paul secured a unanimous decision victory over the legendary Mike Tyson in the main event of a highly anticipated Netflix showcase at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, 15 November.
The eight-round heavyweight clash saw the 58-year-old former world champion dominate the first two rounds before the 27-year-old social media influencer-turned-boxer gained control, ultimately winning on the judges’ scorecards with scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.
In a moment of respect, Paul bowed to Tyson just before the final bell.
The bout, which drew a sold-out crowd, was streamed live on Netflix, marking a milestone event for the streaming platform in the realm of live sports.
Initially scheduled for 20 July, the fight had to be postponed after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles in May, requiring medical attention.
Paul’s victory adds another high-profile name to his boxing résumé, while Tyson, revered as one of the greatest heavyweights in history, demonstrated remarkable skill and resilience at 58 years old.
