‘Fake Judge’ Morris Samuel Christian’s Laptop Goes Missing

| Updated: November 8, 2024 18:24

The laptop reportedly used by the ‘fake judge’ Morris Samuel Christian to issue fraudulent court orders has gone missing, local authorities have revealed.

Christian, who was present in court after completing his remand, was arrested by Ahmedabad police in October for running a “fake” court in Gandhinagar for nearly six years. During his remand, it emerged that Dilipsinh Rathod, his accomplice may have been in possession of the laptop.

Consequently, Rathod was apprehended and placed on a two-day remand. However, Rathod insisted he did not have the laptop during police questioning. As the police did not request further remand for either suspect, the court has ordered them to be sent to judicial custody.

Christian, who did not have a valid degree, had “practised” and engaged in “arbitration” for over three decades, posing as a lawyer. He was caught at the City Civil Court of Ahmedabad, where an FIR was filed at the Karanj police station.

The FIR was lodged under sections 170 (impersonating a public servant) and 419 (cheating by impersonation) of the Indian Penal Code, following a complaint from Hardik Sagar Desai, the registrar of the Ahmedabad City Civil Court.

Morris Christian allegedly established a counterfeit courtroom in Ahmedabad, complete with a judge, lawyers and a clerk, where he issued orders regarding government land. Contempt proceedings are expected to be filed against him for interfering in legitimate civil court cases.
