Tight security measures have been put in place in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Sunday to lay the foundation for various development projects worth nearly Rs 1,300 crore.
Swapna Vishwakarma highlighted the city’s enthusiasm for the Prime Minister’s visit, stressing the importance of the Varanasi Sports Complex inauguration, which she believes will help realise the aspirations of local children.
Speaking to media reporters, Swapna said, “The entire city is excited about the PM’s visit. His inauguration of the Varanasi Sports Complex will help realise the dreams of children and aid us in reaching the Olympics.”
Another local resident, Rajnish, said that the Prime Minister frequently places a high priority on Varanasi’s development and that this visit will help aspiring athletes reach new heights.
“The PM always prioritises the development of Varanasi, and today, his visit and the inauguration of the sports complex will help athletes reach new heights. We are pleased that he has taken such steps,” he said.
PM Modi is going to inaugurate Phases 2 and 3 of the Varanasi Sports Complex’s redevelopment, which is valued at over Rs 210 crore and is being carried out under the ‘Khelo India’ project and the Smart City Mission, as part of his aim to offer world-class sports facilities.
Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi, Kaushal Raj Sharma, said that PM Modi would lay the foundation stone for 23 projects in the city.
