Film director Vasan Bala seems to have deactivated his X (formally Twitter) account following a series of controversies surrounding his latest release, Jigra.
The action thriller, which starred Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina and was produced by Dharma Productions, failed to perform well at the box office or with critics when it was released on October 11 along with the comedy Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which starred Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri.
When searching for Bala’s profile under the handle ‘@Vasan_Bala’ on X, a message appears stating, “This account doesn’t exist. Try searching for another.”
The filmmaker, who is also credited with Monica, O My Darling, and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, was actively posting posts and responding to comments on X just a day ago.
Even before Jigra was released in theatres, it was the subject of several controversies.
In a pre-release interview, Bala expressed his dissatisfaction, stating that producer Karan Johar had sent Bhatt an email with the preliminary draft of the Jigra screenplay.
Johar soon criticised the “gore misinterpretation” of Bala’s remarks and advised viewers to look over the entire interviews rather than relying just on “clickbait assumptions”.
