Senior Congress leader K Keshav Rao, BRS leader Harish Rao, and several others paid tribute on Monday to former Delhi University professor and human rights activist G N Saibaba, who passed away in Hyderabad.
Keshav Rao and MLA Harish Rao visited the residence of Saibaba’s brother in Moula-Ali, where the late professor’s body was kept for relatives and friends to pay their respects.
Expressing sorrow over Saibaba’s passing, the BRS MLA described his death as “unfortunate,” particularly following his recent acquittal by the court.
“Principles of justice state that an innocent person should not be punished, which applies in the case of Saibaba. Who will answer for the pain suffered by Saibaba?” asked Harish Rao, nephew of BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
According to the police, the mortal remains were not permitted to be taken from the ambulance, as any activities at the location require authorisation from the relevant authorities due to it being a VIP zone. However, Saibaba’s friends and supporters gathered at Gun Park, displaying banners in his honour and chanting slogans such as ‘Saibaba amar rahe’.
