Local police have recovered ten unclaimed packets containing approximately 12 kg of cocaine from a creek area near Gandhidham. The seized drugs have an estimated value of Rs 120 crore on the international market.
Superintendent of Police for Kutch-East Division, Sagar Bagmar, said the discovery was made during a search on Sunday night following a specific tip-off. “It is likely that smugglers hid the cocaine in the creek to avoid detection,” Bagmar stated, adding that further investigations are underway.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the drugs were concealed by smugglers to evade capture. This marks the third major drug seizure from the same area in less than a year, according to Bagmar.
In June 2024, a joint operation by the Anti-Terrorist Squad and local police led to the recovery of 13 unclaimed packets of cocaine, valued at Rs 130 crore, from the same location. Additionally, in September last year, the Kutch-East police seized 80 packets of cocaine, each weighing one kilogram, with a total value of Rs800 crore, from the same creek.
