A 23-year-old nursing student died of profuse blood loss after having sexual intercourse with her 26-year-old boyfriend in a hotel in Gujarat’s Navsari, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the victim got intimate with her boyfriend and during the intercourse, she suffered vaginal bleeding. Her boyfriend, instead of seeking medical assistance, surfed the internet for remedies while her partner was suffering and thus wasted a crucial hour or more that could have saved her life.
The man has been arrested.
“The accused, instead of rushing her to a hospital or seeking medical help, surfed the internet on his phone and searched for what to do to cease bleeding during intercourse,” the police said.
The man further attempted intercourse while the girl was bleeding. He even tried using a cloth to stop the bleeding, but it did not help and the woman fainted after some time. Petrified, he called up one of his friends and took the woman to a private hospital, from where they were referred to the Civil Hospital.
He has been arrested under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 238 (causing evidence to disappear) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“The forensic report stated she died due to excessive bleeding. Instead of calling 108 or medical assistance, he contacted his friends and transferred her in a private vehicle after waiting for them. Had she received emergency medical aid with IV fluids, blood and medicines, she would have survived,” Navsari SP Sushil Agrawal said.
Her postmortem revealed that the woman succumbed to grave injuries in her private parts and consequent heavy blood loss, resulting in haemorrhagic shock.
The woman, a first-year nursing student, had met the man three years ago, though they had reportedly not been in contact for over two years. They reconnected about seven months ago via social media.
“After being in a relationship for seven months, they decided to spend some private time on September 23, and checked into the hotel. Even after realising she was bleeding, the accused attempted to have intercourse with her. When the situation worsened, he spent 60 to 90 minutes in the hotel. She was pronounced dead at 2:15pm at a hospital. Before leaving the hotel, he cleaned up the bloodstains to destroy evidence,” the cop said.
