Gujarat: BJP to Stage Protests at 41 Locations Against Rahul’s Reservation Remarks

| Updated: September 26, 2024 19:14

In response to Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s reservation remarks, the Gujarat state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stage rallies from 41 various locations across the state.

Rahul Gandhi had said at Georgetown University in the United States that the Congress might consider “ending reservation when India is a fair place.”

Addressing the press conference in Gandhinagar, state President of OBC Morcha of BJP and Rajya Sabha MP Mayank Nayak said, “While on foreign soil, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commented on removing reservations. This remark has faced strong opposition from the entire ST, SC, and OBC communities across the state, as well as from the BJP. Protests will be organised at 41 locations throughout Gujarat in response to these comments. He has hurt the sentiments of many sections of Indian society.”

Rajya Sabha MP Mayank Nayak (Left) and MoS Jagdish Vishwakarma (Centre)

MoS Jagdish Vishwakarma alleged that Gandhi has made it a practice to travel to other countries, take pictures, edit reels, and cause chaos across the country.

“In the 2024 election, the people who roamed with the red book, claiming they would save the Constitution, are now, after visiting foreign lands, trying to malign India. Rahul Gandhi and his family are undermining the reservation provided by Baba Saheb Ambedkar in the Constitution,” he said.

He further added that each of the three Gandhis—Nehru, Indira, and even Rajiv—opposed reservations and misled 140 crore Indians and people can see through the media that the Congress party opposes reservation.

“Rahul Gandhi talks about reservations, but the position of Congress chief is reserved for you (Rahul). No matter your performance, you will always be ahead for the position of Congress chief. Who has given you the right to keep your position reserved while trying to take away reservations meant for the poor and deprived? Every time Rahul Gandhi goes abroad, he makes anti-India remarks,” the Minister remarked.

Uneasy Calm On Dahod Rape-Murder Case

Both MoS Vishwakarma and MP Nayak were countered with the recent case of rape and murder of six-year-old at a primary school in Dahod.

Reacting to the incident, Vishwakarma said, “The case is under investigation and state government is committed to ensuring justice for the victim’s family. Such cases are always on a fast-track basis. We are with the family.”

Nayak told VOI, “Whoever is the accused, there is no religion or caste. The Gujarat government has reacted swiftly and made the arrest. Bhupendra Patel-led government is capable of taking appropriate actions.”

Earlier, Gujarat Congress President Shaktisinh Gohil condemned the act, revealing that the accused principal, who claims to be a social reformer, has ties to the RSS and BJP ideologies.

Fifty-five-year-old Govind Natt, the school principal, was arrested on September 22.
