Diu: School Father Beats Three Students For Chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’

| Updated: September 25, 2024 19:54

An incident has emerged from the Union Territory of Diu, where three students were allegedly assaulted by the school’s Father for chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Hind.”

Upon learning of the incident, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal promptly approached the district collector’s office and filed a detailed complaint.

In response to the seriousness of the matter, the district collector has instructed that legal action be taken against the Father.

The incident happened on September 5, during Teacher’s Day festivities at Nirmala Mata English Medium High School. After the National Anthem, a student shouted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Hind,” which reportedly enraged Father Edmund Mascarenhas. In an apparent attempt to ascertain who was behind the slogans, he allegedly went up to the students standing in line and beat three of them.

Nirmala Mata English Medium staff and teachers are also said to have ignored Father Mascarenhas’ conduct. The parents of the assaulted children were hesitant to come out; therefore, at first, the incident was covered up.

Once the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal became aware of the situation, they launched an investigation and approached the district administration, calling for legal action against the Father.
