Ahmedabad Crime Branch on Friday seized 200 kg of ganja from an industrial facility in Vatva as part of a major enforcement operation. This operation was carried out as a part of the city police’s continuous efforts to combat drug trafficking.
An established drug trafficking network that had been operating in Ahmedabad was the target of Crime Branch’s operation.
Authorities found a substantial amount of ganja hidden inside the shed’s premises. The objective of this consignment was to get into the illegal drug trade in the city.
Addressing a press conference, ACP Bharat Patel said, “For the past month, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has been engaged in surveillance and investigation concerning the suspects involved in this drug operation. This surveillance involved closely monitoring their activities and collecting evidence to support the raid. The operation culminated in the seizure of 200 kg of ganja worth nearly Rs 43 lakh and the arrest of seven individuals connected to the trafficking network. The investigation remains active, with additional arrests anticipated as further details emerge.”
The ganja seized was transported from Ganjam district in Odisha. The Crime Branch has stepped up its efforts to combat drug trafficking in response to Ahmedabad’s rising number of drug-related cases.
This seizure is part of a larger plan to break up the illicit drug supply chain and lessen the amount of narcotics.
The arrested individuals are identified as Manigadan Subhramaniyam Mudliyar (47), Kumar Arun Pandey (30), Sanjay Krishna Sahu (36), Sushant alias Babu Ramchandra Gauda (34), Ajay Tufan Svain (27), Laaba Trinath Gauda (42) and Sandeepkumar Dukhsha Shah (23).
