The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has withdrawn the ‘red alert’ issued for extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of Gujarat since the intensity of the rain has reduced over the last few days. However, several areas have been put on ‘orange alert’ for the next 48 hours, and starting on Wednesday, the intensity of rain is projected to lessen even further, with just a few districts likely receiving severe rain.
The IMD’s most recent estimation calls for heavy rainfall over the next four days, ending on August 2nd:
Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadara Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath & Botad are all under an orange alert for the next 24 hours.
A yellow warning, indicating the possibility of heavy rain, has been issued for Jamnagar, Morbi, Kutch, and Diu over the same period.
Orange alerts are in effect for Porbandar, Dwarka, and Kutch on July 30. Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Navsari, Valsad, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli are under a yellow alert due to probable severe rainfall.
A yellow alert has been issued for Navsari, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, on July 31st, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain.
In Navsari, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, a yellow warning for very likely heavy rainfall was issued on August 1.
A yellow warning for very likely heavy rains was issued on August 2nd for Daman, Dadara Nagar Haveli, and Navsari, Valsad.
In addition to heavy rain, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in various locations throughout all of Gujarat’s districts over this four-day period.
