“There’s a new restaurant called Karma. There’s no menu. You get what you deserve.”, The old tweet of Shahrukh Khan went viral again after Vikas Ahir, a self-proclaimed BJP leader from Surat, got arrested along with others on serious charges of drug peddling. Vikas Ahir was at the forefront of Social media trolls of Shahrukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan when the latter was implicated in a false drug case in 2021.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Surat Police held three persons involved in smuggling drugs. They were bringing the drugs from Rajasthan and selling them under the guise of ice cream lorries.
Vikas Ahir, the active social media troll, affiliating himself with the ruling BJP, is one of the three arrested. Vikas Ahir claimed to be the state head of the Hindu Yuva Vahini on his social media accounts. He also claimed to be the metropolitan coordinator for the BJP Yuva Morcha. Hindu Yuva Vahini is an organisation founded by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. Vikas Ahir projected an image of a staunch Hindu nationalist and cow protector.
Even as Ahir’s photographs with Surat Police Officer Jayraj Gadhvi have gone viral, his photographs cosying up with several top leaders of the BJP, including Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and State BJP Chief CR Paatil, both hailing from South Gujarat have been splashed all over Social media, much to the embarrassment of the concerned.
The SOG, acting on a tip-off, raided the Grand Villa Hotel near Udhna Darwaja on Ring Road, Surat. Police found a total of 354.910 grams of MD drugs worth Rs. 35,49,100 in room No. 704, with a person named Chetan Shah, 22, a resident of Udaipur. Police seized the drugs, two mobile phones, a car, and ₹11,350 in cash, all worth ₹44,75,000.
As per the initial investigation carried out by the police, the drugs were meant to be delivered to Anishkhan Lakdawala and Vikas Ahir in Surat. Another person under investigation is Rehan Jamil Ansari, the son of Jamil Ansari, aka Jamil Biryani (Vice President of the BJP Minority Morcha-Surat). Vikas Ahir’s ice cream lorry named Bhavani Ice Cream in the Salabatpura area of Surat was used as a front to sell drugs. The drugs were ordered via Snapchat and Instagram from Rajasthan, and sold through ice cream lorries, ice cream parlours, or two-wheelers. Along with them,
Vikas Ahir and Anish Khan are known history-sheeters. Ahir had been implicated in robbing a builder’s office in the Amroli area which led to the cancellation of his firearm licence. Anish Khan faced the law in 2017, when he allegedly kidnapped a person, killed him, and dumped the body in a drain in Dumas. He had been arrested in an NDPS case earlier.
