Union HM Amit Shah Praises Patel Community’s Role in Gujarat’s Development

| Updated: July 7, 2024 19:38

On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the significant contributions of the Patel community to Gujarat’s development. Speaking at the inauguration of the Amin PJ Kadva Patidar Vidhyarthi Bhavan in the Ambawadi area of Ahmedabad, Shah emphasised the parallel growth trajectories of the state and the Patel community.

Hailing from Mansa and having received his education in North Gujarat, Shah expressed his close ties with the Patel community, particularly the Kadva Patels. Reflecting on the intertwined progress of communities, the state, and the nation, he underscored their inseparable connection.

“Without a doubt, the Kadva Patel community has played a pivotal role in Gujarat’s development,” Shah asserted. The developmental graphs of both the community and the state have evolved in tandem, demonstrating their mutual influence.

Within the Patel community, two sub-groups—the Leuva Patels and the Kadva Patels—have made significant contributions. Shah highlighted virtues such as studiousness, business acumen, courage, and a strong sense of community cohesion among Patel individuals.

Recalling his college days in Ahmedabad, Shah reminisced about staying at the hostel of Gujarat University. This institution, founded in 1930, served as a hub for student politics and witnessed the presence of leaders like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during the freedom movement.

Addressing the students present, Shah encouraged them to lead purposeful lives. “Set an aim in life,” he advised. “While a life without direction can be swayed by time, a focused pursuit of your goals allows you to shape time itself. Strive diligently, take the path less travelled, and trust that your God-given capabilities will lead you to success.”
