Union ministers Kiren Rijiju and Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said that Rahul Gandhi’s “extremely irresponsible” statement in the Lok Sabha mocked the responsible role of the Leader of the Opposition.
Additionally, they said that Gandhi shared false information and associated Hindus with violence, imposing a “grave insult” on them.
Rijiju said the ruling BJP has disputed many of the claims made by Gandhi in his speech in the Lok Sabha and has sought action from the Speaker.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister slammed his claims about the Agnipath scheme and compensation for the residents of Ayodhya during construction projects there, saying he would have to provide evidence or issue an apology.
Local retailers and others received compensation totalling more than Rs 1,253 crore, along with assistance with relocation, says Vaishnaw.
Using the alleged anti-Hindu remarks made by former home ministers P Chidambaram and Sushil Kumar Shinde, a BJP member of the Rajya Sabha, Sudhanshu Trivedi, responded that the Congress has a history of disrespecting the religion.
