Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport is set to enhance passenger convenience with new self-baggage drop machines and additional electronic gates.
- Self-Baggage Drop Machines:
- SVPI Airport will install two more self-baggage drop machines at the domestic terminal (T1) within the next 15 days.
- This expansion follows the success of existing machines introduced last November.
- The total number of machines will increase to four, saving passengers approximately 25 minutes during peak hours.
- Since their launch, 70,000 passengers from IndiGo and Air India have utilized the self-baggage drop service.
- Integration with Akasa Airline is underway, requiring airlines to update their software for operational compatibility.
- E-Gates for DigiYatra Users:
- The airport will add three additional electronic gates at Terminal 1, bringing the total to four.
- These e-gates facilitate swift check-ins for passengers using the DigiYatra app.
- Currently, approximately 20% of daily departing passengers (14,000) utilize DigiYatra.
- The new e-gates aim to further promote passenger adoption of the platform.
- International Terminal Expansion:
- The expansion of the international terminal is nearing completion.
- The terminal will feature 52 counters to enhance check-in efficiency during peak hours.
- Additional immigration counters and security checkpoints will also be available.
- Baggage Compliance Reminder:
- Passengers using the self-baggage drop service must comply with airline size restrictions.
- Prohibited items (e.g., e-cigarettes, flammable substances) will halt bags at the terminal’s level 4 conveyor belt.
- Passengers will be notified to retrieve their bags and remove the items accordingly.
