Ahmedabad’s police control room is gearing up to improve public announcements across the city by deploying advanced technology at 100 locations. The upcoming police commissioner’s office at Shahibaug Police Headquarters will play a key role in this initiative.
Police officials have identified congested and high-traffic points where the new public announcement system will be installed. Through strategically placed speakers, the control room will broadcast announcements to large crowds. Notable locations include Shastri Nagar Char Rasta, Asarwa Lake, Arbudanagar Odhav, Memnagar HBK School, Gujarat University Tran Rasta, Gujarat College, Paldi Mahalakshmi Char Rasta, Usmanpura Vidyanagar School, Ranip Balolnagar, and Chandkheda GTU Girls College.
The new commissioner’s office boasts an expanded infrastructure, including 30 100-line connections (up from 11 in the old office) and 48 CCTV monitoring screens (compared to 36 previously). Additionally, 600 police personnel now wear body-worn cameras, enabling real-time viewing from the control room.
Furthermore, enhancements include GPS tracking for 78 PCR vans and a total of 225 police vehicles. This system allows live monitoring of vehicle locations, addressing a limitation in the current control room setup.
