Gujarat Giants’ cricketers and kabaddi players have shifted gears from their usual domains to embrace athletics. Adani Sportsline has officially announced the 8th edition of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, one of the most eagerly anticipated events in Ahmedabad. Scheduled for November 24, this year’s marathon will commence and conclude at the scenic Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park, managed and operated by Adani Sportsline.
To kickstart the marathon journey and preparations, a notable lineup of participants took part in a race at the Adani Sportsline Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park. Among them were Lt. Col. Surendaran J from the Army, Sanjay Adesara (CBO of Adani Sportsline), Gujarat Giants cricketers Tanuja Kanwar and Kashvee Gautam, Gujarat Giants kabaddi player Parteek Dahiya, Head Coach Ram Mehar Singh, and Assistant Coach Sundaram.
The race was flagged off by enthusiastic children from the Adani Sportsline Academy, who cheered on the runners. Post-race, the players engaged with academy students, sharing valuable tips for improvement.
On November 24, the marathon will unfold with a diverse range of categories: the full marathon (42.195 km), the half marathon (21.097 km), the 10 km run, and the 5 km run. Certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon underwent a course change for the first time in 2023, and this year marks the second edition on this picturesque track. The route winds through iconic locations such as the Atal Bridge, Gandhi Ashram, and Ellis Bridge, showcasing the city’s heritage.
Beyond the thrill of winning medals, the marathon offers an opportunity to contribute to the welfare of India’s armed forces. Alongside the race, the Army will stage a show of strength, inspiring youth to consider a career in the forces. With increasing registrations each year, the marathon not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also aligns with a vision to uplift lives.
“We are thrilled to present the eighth edition of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon,” said Mr Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises.
“Over the years, it has carved out a special place on the calendar and in the hearts of Ahmedabad’s residents, embodying grit, teamwork and determination. The visible enthusiasm and commitment towards supporting the marathon and standing with our nation’s armed forces are truly inspiring. This passion, along with the growing participation from other states, fuels our drive to make the marathon bigger and better every year.”
