AIFF’s Senior Men’s Futsal Club Championship Kicks Off in Gujarat

| Updated: June 20, 2024 19:21

The AIFF’s Senior Men’s Futsal Club Championship is set to take place at Swarnim Gujarat Sports University (SGSU), Desar, from June 22nd to July 7th, 2024. This prestigious tournament marks the first time that Gujarat is hosting this national futsal championship, drawing 19 teams from across the country.

Among the participants is the Baroda Football Academy from Gujarat, securing their spot as the reigning champion of the GSFA Futsal Club Championship in 2023.

The participating teams include 15 nominees from their respective state associations, while four semi-finalists from last season’s Hero Futsal Club Championship—Delhi Football Club, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Minerva Academy FC and Electric Veng Futsal Club—have received direct entry.

The tournament will follow a league cum knockout format, with group winners from all four groups advancing to the semi-finals. The final showdown is scheduled for July 7th.

Mr Parimal Nathwani, President of the Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA), expressed his delight at bringing this national championship to Gujarat. GSFA had previously successfully organized the Indian Women’s League in Ahmedabad last year. Dr. Arjunsinh Rana, Vice Chancellor of SGSU, received special thanks for providing the newly built indoor hall with a 60×40 ft wooden floor—a perfect venue for futsal—and other essential infrastructure.

GSFA remains committed to strengthening football sports in Gujarat, balancing its busy calendar with inter-district football events while also hosting national-level tournaments. Football enthusiasts across the state eagerly anticipate witnessing top talents on home turf.

Mr. Mulrajsinh Chudasama, GSFA Secretary, personally oversees the arrangements. The officials from AIFF, GSFA and SGSU are working tirelessly to ensure the event’s success and fans can catch all the action live on AIFF’s YouTube channel.
