Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Friday claimed that the Central Government has refused to give her permission to visit Kuwait. She stated that the visit’s aim was to organise help for Keralites impacted by a devastating fire in the Gulf nation.
Talking to the media, she said, “What we just sought from the central government was the permission to travel to Kuwait to stand with our people affected by the tragedy and coordinate activities there. That permission is denied.”
40 Indians are among the 49 individuals who have died as a result of the fire tragedy. Of these, 23 are from Kerala.
In order to assist with relief operations, including medical treatment of the injured and the return of the deceased to their families, the state administration had made the decision to send George to Kuwait.
According to reports, George allegedly spent hours at the airport in hopes of getting approval from the Ministry of External Affairs.
