Dwija Patel of Rajkot emerged as the top scorer among girls with an All India Rank of 7 in the JEE-Advanced results that were declared on Sunday. She scored 332 out of 360.
Six students from Gujarat are among the top 100 in the JEE-Advanced results. Of them, four are from Rajkot and two from Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad’s Mrigank Patel secured 66th rank while Fenil Patel secured 88th rank.
The Gujarat students in the top 120, with their ranks in brackets, are Dwija Patel (7), Akshar Zala (38), Avadh Hindocha (47), Mrigank Patel (66), Harshal Kanani (81), Fenil Patel (88), Jiya Gada (102) and Megh Jesalpara (118).
Dwija is the daughter of a mathematics teacher, Dharmesh Patel, and has loved mathematics from a very young age. She was sure about pursuing engineering and started preparing early. She appeared for the JEE Advanced from IIT Bombay zone. She is keen on joining IIT Bombay for a degree in computer science.
Dwija joined Allen coaching institute in Rajkot from Class 11. Dwija’s mother is a homemaker and her younger brother is in Class 5. Even as she studied for 8-10 hours a day, Dwija would find time to binge-watch her favourite web series such as Friends, Suits and others.
Around 1.8 lakh students appeared for the JEE Advanced entrance test. This year, IIT Madras conducted the exams which determines admission to approximately 17,000 seats in the IITs across India. JEE Advanced scores are also used for admission to other reputed technical colleges.
