The Crime Branch of Ahmedabad arrested four suspects on June 7, involved in the recent murder of a local journalist, Manish Shah.
The murder, which has been revealed to be a contract killing worth two lakhs, was allegedly instigated due to a personal feud. The main suspect’s brother and the deceased journalist’s wife were reportedly involved in an illicit relationship, leading to escalating tensions.
On June 1, Manish Shah was attacked while commuting to his office on his bike via Riverfront Road. Two unidentified individuals intercepted him and assaulted him with a knife, issuing threats to his life. Shah was immediately admitted to a hospital following the attack. His complaint prompted the Riverfront Police to initiate an investigation into the incident. However, on June 4, during his treatment, Shah’s condition deteriorated and the case was reclassified as a murder investigation.
The main suspect, Mahipal Sinh, is alleged to have orchestrated the contract killing. Singh reportedly enlisted Shakti Sinh to carry out the attack on Shah, intending to teach him a lesson and cause severe physical harm. Following this, Mahipal and Shakti Singh convened with Akash, Aniket and Vikas, with Shakti Sinh advancing 1.20 lakhs for the contract. Each individual involved had different amounts to contribute and the money was to be paid on the same day.
