Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport has unveiled five new parking stands at Terminal 2. This expansion increases the total number of parking stands from the previous 13 to an impressive 18, catering to a diverse fleet of aircraft used by both domestic and select international airlines.
The enhancements extend beyond parking stands. Four new aerobridges have been installed, effectively doubling the existing count to eight. Furthermore, the implementation of the Multiple Aircraft Ramp System (MARS) on four existing aerobridges optimizes stand utilization, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Terminal 2’s improved capabilities now enable it to handle a wide range of aircraft types. These include 18 Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft commonly used by domestic and some international carriers. Additionally, Terminal 2 accommodates five wide-body aircraft models, such as the Boeing 777, Boeing 787, and Airbus A359. Cargo aircraft like the AN 124, B744, and Beluga, primarily operated by international airlines, can also utilize the upgraded facilities. Notably, Terminal 2 is well-prepared to handle Saudi Airlines’ B747-400 aircraft during Hajj operations.
